Brava de Barnacan Bull Her dam is World Champion Jara de Barnacan Bull, Her sire is World Champion Taucho. She caught a hog her first trip to the woods. I have used her on cows and hogs. She is very gritty, and she will get as rough as she needs to depending on what I am using her on. Her brother is the roughest catch dog I have ever seen. |

| The Perro de Presa Canario originates from the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. A cross between molosser dogs brought to the islands and the pre-hispanic cattle dogs that originated the islands. They where originally used to catch and hold cattle for the butcher. I still use them to do those same things today. Males weigh 110-150 lbs and 23.5 in. - 25.5 in Females weigh 88 - 120 lbs and 22 - 24 in. I use my dogs on cattle and wild hogs. Believe me when I tell you they don't play when it is time to go to work. I have used Pit's, Dogo's from Argentina, and American Bulldogs over the years and have been very happy with them. But these dogs took it to a level I had never seen before. They will catch anything you put them on, and they have the POWER to control it when they catch it. |
| They are not a breed that is short on common sense either. They have an "ON" and "OFF" button. I have seen mine let kids crawl all over them and have as much fun as the kids that are playing with them, and still have the ability to catch a big boar hog that night. Not all dogs are able to do both. Truth be told very few breeds are capable of being as gentle as this breed, and as rough as this breed when they need to be. It takes a dog with common since and control over both his temper and his fear to do both. This breed isn't for everyone. If you can not properly socialize them they can get out of hand . They need someone with a firm hand. They also need to be exposed to strangers as a young dog, just like all other dogs do. This is not to say that you need to take them somewhere and setup your own personal petting zoo. It just means that they need to be exposed to strangers around you as a young dog so that you can correct any social problems as a young dog when the problems will be easy to fix. They can be dog aggressive, especially to the same sex. They should be exposed to other dogs as a young dog. If you expose them to other dogs as a young dog and correct problems when they are small problems, then you don't have bigger problems later. This breed also drools. They don't walk around the house slobbering all over the place. They will however slobber more than a normal dog if they have been drinking or they have been doing some kind of exercise. When properly socialized they are a very loving and gentle breed. |
| Welcome to Casda del Toro. We are a small kennel that believes in quality, not quantity. We do not breed many litters a year. Sometimes we may not breed any litters in a year. When we do have a litter, I try and produce a dog that will suit the hard to please. |
